Howdy, I’m Shaylyn
You’d think my future in design would have been obvious when I was 12, creating PowerPoints and begging my teacher to share them with the class (cringe).
However, my career path wasn’t linear. I sold pies, worked in coffee shops, and had a pretty bleak 9–5 cubicle job that made me realize I’d rather be using my creativity to help others.
I know what it’s like to leave a comfortable career to take a chance on yourself, and the struggles that come with starting from scratch.
I believe kindness and empathy are underrated superpowers, which is why I started Kind—to do good work with good people. The ones who were brave enough to take a chance on themselves because they know what they have to offer make the world a better place.
My design ethos is simple: people always come first. I’ll walk you through an in-depth process that brings together business insight with conceptual design to create a one-of-a-kind brand that’ll resonate with your audience both emotionally and functionally.
I promise no matter where you’re at—whether you’re building your brand from scratch or ready to refresh what’s already in place—when we work together, you’re not just getting a designer; you’re gaining a brand ambassador who knows what’s possible and will support you every step of the way.
The Fun Stuff
If you’re anything like me, the suggestion of an icebreaker activity immediately makes your hands sweaty.
Yes, icebreaker activities stress me out, because there’s no other moment you’ll realize just how unfun you are than trying to think of a fun fact under pressure. However, the brands that feel human are the most impactful, so here’s a little bit about me.
My creative process is fuelled by sour candy. I unapologetically love anything sour, and my new dentist is probably about to make a fortune.
I am fit(ish) and every year have the intention of running a half-marathon, but neither my dog (nor I) like running for more than 30 minutes.
I definitely didn’t peak in high school, but my teachers always complimented my eclectic sense of fashion. These days, I basically live in sweatsuits.
(And just in case you were wondering, my go-to fun fact is that I’ve never had a Big Mac. Ever.)

You’ll start by filling out my project inquiry form, which asks a few simple questions about your business and the type of project you have in mind.
I’ll review your inquiry, do a happy dance, and get back to you within 2-3 business days.

During our call we’ll discuss your current brand, pain points, and the big picture vision you have for your business. We’ll clarify project details, quickly introduce my process and answer any questions you have.
I personally hate awkward sales calls, so I promise there’s never any pressure or strings attached.

After our meeting, you’ll receive a personalized proposal that outlines project deliverables based on your unique goals.
To move forward, you can simply sign the contract and deposit form that’s included alongside your proposal.
