Howdy, I’m Shaylyn
You’d think my future in design would have been obvious when I was 12, creating PowerPoints and begging my teacher to share them with the class (cringe).
However, my career path wasn't so linear. I worked in pie shops, cafes, and a pretty bleak cubicle job that made me realize I'd rather be using my creativity to do something that actually matters.
I know what it's like to leave a comfortable career to take a chance on something you believe in, and the courage it takes to build something that's about more than just a paycheque.
I believe kindness and empathy are underrated superpowers, which is why I started Kind — to do good work with good people. The ones who are brave enough to lead with their values because they know that what they're building has the power to make the world a little better.
My design ethos is super simple: people always come first. I'll walk you through an in-depth process that brings together your mission and expertise with conceptual design to create a one-of-a-kind brand that resonates with the communities you serve, both emotionally and functionally.
I promise, no matter where you're at — whether you're building from scratch or ready to elevate what's already in place — when we work together, you're not just getting a designer. You’ll never realize how unexciting you are until you have to come up with a fun fact under pressure. That being said, we all know that humans connect with honesty and authenticity, so here’s a little bit about me.
Sour candy is the most important part of my creative process.
My friends and family describe me as the golden retriever of people.
Julia Child is my muse.
I am fit(ish) and every year have the intention of running a half-marathon, but neither my dog (or I) like running for more than 30 minutes.
If I’m not on the computer, I’m probably wrist deep in soil working on my cut-flower or vegetable garden. If puttering had medals, I’d win gold.
(And just in case you were wondering, my generic go-to fun fact is that I’ve never had a Big Mac. Ever.)

You’ll start by filling out my project inquiry form, which asks a few simple questions about your business and the type of project you have in mind.
I’ll review your inquiry, do a happy dance, and get back to you within 2-3 business days.

During our call we’ll discuss your current brand, pain points, and the big picture vision you have for your business. We’ll clarify project details, quickly introduce my process and answer any questions you have.
I personally hate awkward sales calls, so I promise there’s never any pressure or strings attached.

After our meeting, you’ll receive a personalized proposal that outlines project deliverables based on your unique goals.
To move forward, you can simply sign the contract and deposit form that’s included alongside your proposal.
